Brownstone Worldwide

For the people in the neighborhood

Keep the
Porch Light On

Independent neighborhood media doesn't run on luck — it runs on Neighbors. Your monthly support keeps the magazine in print, the radio on the air, and the newsroom lit.

Become a Neighbor

What you're keeping alive

Three lights. One neighborhood.

Brownstone Worldwide isn't backed by a hedge fund or a media conglomerate. It's backed by Neighbors. Here's exactly what your support sustains.

In print & online

Brownstone Living Magazine

Our lifestyle and urban-culture magazine — real stories, real people, produced for the neighborhood instead of the algorithm.

On the air

CityScape Radio

Podcasts and shows that give the neighborhood a voice and a microphone — independent audio you actually trust.

The newsroom

Brownstone Worldwide

News, information, and community reporting you can rely on. Independent journalism that answers to you, not advertisers.

Why it's worth it

You can get "news" anywhere. You can't get this anywhere.

Most of what reaches you was built to win a click, sold to an advertiser, and written by someone who's never set foot on your block. We do the opposite — and that's exactly what your support protects.

Most media
Brownstone
An algorithm decides what you see.
Neighbors decide what matters. We cover the block, not the trending tab.
Reporters parachute in for the bad news, then leave.
We live here. We're here for the festival, the ribbon-cutting, and the funeral.
Your neighborhood shows up as a crime statistic.
Your neighborhood is the whole story — told with culture, context, and dignity.
The essentials sit behind a paywall.
The information you need stays free for everyone. Always.
Answerable to advertisers and shareholders.
Answerable to you. That's the entire point of being Neighbor-funded.

What your support is building right now

We're already doing the work — before you need it.

Good coverage isn't built the week the story breaks. It's built months ahead, quietly, so the answers are ready the moment the neighborhood needs them. Here's what's in production this season:

[Swap these for your real upcoming coverage — this is the format that works.]

A no-friction neighborhood guide

Clear, plain-language answers to the questions people actually ask — what's open, what's changing, what's coming, and where to show up.

The "My Body, Myself" essay series

First-person stories from the community that no national outlet would ever commission — and that our Neighbors tell us they can't find anywhere else.

New CityScape Radio seasons

More shows, more voices from the neighborhood, more conversations you won't hear on a corporate feed.

Keeping the essentials free

The reporting everyone needs stays outside the paywall — funded by the Neighbors who can, on behalf of those who can't.

Our season goal

$6,300 of $15,000

Most people tune in later. We do the work now — so the answers are there when you need them.

Underwrite the neighborhood

Some businesses, churches, and organizations don't want an ad campaign — they want to be known as one of the good ones who keep independent local media alive. This is for them.

This is community underwriting — recognition for backing the mission. If you'd rather run an active promotion, that's our Partner program, and we'll point you there.

Your name belongs on this porch

Every Neighbor who steps up keeps the light on for the whole block. This isn't charity — it's ownership of something that belongs to all of us. Every supporter is listed, by name, on our Wall of Neighbors.

Honest answers

Where does my support actually go?

Straight into making the work: writers and producers, printing the magazine, keeping CityScape Radio on the air, and the day-to-day of running an independent newsroom. No conglomerate skimming off the top.

Is this a tax-deductible donation?

No. Brownstone Worldwide is an independent, for-profit media company, so this is a membership contribution — like supporting your favorite independent creator — not a charitable donation. We'd rather tell you that plainly than have it surprise you at tax time.

Can I change or cancel?

Anytime, in a couple of clicks. Switch levels, change from monthly to annual, or pause — it's your membership, and you're always in control.

What's the difference between supporting and advertising?

Supporting keeps the lights on and earns you a Neighbor's recognition. Advertising and our Partner program are about actively promoting your business. Different doors — and we're happy to walk you to the right one.
